Pacific Rim Log Scaling Bureau, Inc. is a private not-for-profit company which acts as
a third party scaling organization for the purpose of scaling and grading logs.
The Board of Directors is comprised of subscribers to the Bureau's service.
We are currently providing services in Washington, Oregon, and Alaska. Additionally,
we have operated in the Southeast, Canada, and Asia.
Log scaling services include certification of log scale, log inventory control,
weight sample expansion, sorting, and quality control.
All information is available as data files, custom reports, and via our secure website.
Data files are emailed by the Bureau. Any report or certificate can be sent as an image
file as well. Data files can be customized for each client. The Bureau also has an invoicing
system which is linked to scale certificates. This allows us to create invoices based on
certified scale relating to species/grade, sort, or weight. All information is secure
and none given to any unauthorized parties.
We can provide scale utilizing many rule groups. They include NWLR westside, eastside, cubic,
USFS eastside, JAS (Japanese Agricultural Standard), and others as requested.
Check Scales
A minimum of 10 loads are checked per scale on a quarterly bases. Remote check scales are preferred when possible.
Additional check scaling services are provided upon request. We are currently checking for customers throughout the Northwest.
Scaler training sessions are held in each area. Our Area Managers and Check Scalers discuss log scale measurements, grade, and deducations when
making site visits. Constant training and review maintains our knowledgeable team of exceptional scalers.
Computer System
Pacific Rim uses an Intel based SQL Server with capability of transmitting data in a Windows environment.
Certificate images are available upon customer request.
Scalers in the field use an Allegro handheld computer.
